Arbitrary code execution via CXP buffer overflow
Published Dec 7, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in OMRON CX-Programmer 9.77 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted CXP files. Its CXP parser copies user-supplied data into a stack-based buffer without first validating the data length, causing an out-of-bounds write. Exploitation requires a user to visit a malicious page or open a malicious CXP file, and successful code runs in the current process context.
