CVE-2022-4338Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service crash via malformed Auto Attach TLV

Published Jan 10, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Integer underflow in Open vSwitch 2.4.0 through 3.0.2 allows remote attackers to crash ovs-vswitchd with a malformed LLDP Auto Attach TLV. In lldp_decode, the ISID VLAN assignments path reads a message-authentication digest and subtracts fixed header fields without first enforcing the TLV's 36-byte minimum length. Exploitation requires LLDP processing on the receiving interface, a feature disabled by default; a reachable malformed frame can interrupt switching service.
