CVE-2022-43357Public exploit

Process crash via unbounded selector recursion

Published Aug 22, 2023 · Updated Oct 3, 2024

Stack overflow in LibSass 3.6.5-8-g210218 and sassc 3.6.2 allows attackers to crash a consuming process via crafted Sass input. CompoundSelector::has_real_parent_ref recursively follows nested pseudo-selector, selector-list, and complex-selector nodes without bounding traversal depth, exhausting the call stack. The crafted input must reach a LibSass compilation path; the demonstrated consequence is process termination, not code execution.
