Unauthenticated file disclosure via traversal paths
Published Nov 7, 2022 · Updated May 5, 2025
Path traversal in Simple E-Learning System 1.0 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files through its download endpoint. The vcs/downloadFiles.php endpoint accepts relative path sequences in the download parameter and returns the referenced file without confining lookup to an allowed directory. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the demonstrated consequence is disclosure of server-readable files.
