CVE-2022-43293Public exploit

Arbitrary file overwrite via unchecked reparse points

Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 11, 2025

Arbitrary file write in Wacom Driver 6.3.45-1 and 6.3.46-1 for Windows allows physically proximate attackers to overwrite protected files. Wacom_Tablet.exe runs as SYSTEM and saves update.xml through an attacker-created wactemp mount point and symbolic link without rejecting reparsed paths. Exploitation requires link setup before wactemp exists, Internet access, and a Wacom-device plug or unplug event; contents are limited to update.xml, but overwriting a boot-critical path can prevent Windows from starting.
