Denial of service via unreleased parser lists
Published Nov 2, 2022 · Updated May 2, 2025
Memory leak in GPAC 2.1-DEV-rev368-gfd054169b-master allows context-dependent attackers to interrupt MP4Box via a crafted ISO media file. During malformed-box parsing, gf_isom_parse_movie_boxes_internal allocates GF_List objects with gf_list_new but aborts without releasing the lists or their entries. Exploitation requires a user to pass the crafted file to MP4Box; the demonstrated consequence is an availability-only memory leak, with no data disclosure or modification.
