CVE-2022-43243Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Decoder crash via SSE weighted-prediction overflow

Published Nov 2, 2022 · Updated May 5, 2025

Heap-buffer overflow in libde265 1.0.8 allows attackers to crash the decoder process by supplying a crafted HEVC video file. The ff_hevc_put_weighted_pred_avg_8_sse routine in sse-motion.cc performs a 16-byte write beyond an allocated image buffer during inter-prediction decoding. The file must be decoded with SSE acceleration enabled; exploitation requires no privileges but requires processing attacker-controlled media and interrupts only the decoding process.
