Authenticated command execution via unvalidated audit variables
Published Mar 15, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025
Command injection in Tenable.io, Tenable.sc, and Nessus plugin feed 202212081951 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run commands. Built-in audit policies accept modified scan-variable values without enforcing their declared variable types and incorporate them into commands sent to credentialed scan targets. A Scan Policy Configuration role and a credentialed target are required, allowing arbitrary commands with the scan credential's target-side privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
