Remote firmware compromise via wpapsk_crypto stack overflow
Published Nov 3, 2022 · Updated May 5, 2025
Stack overflow in Tenda AC23 16.03.07.45_cn allows remote attackers to compromise the firmware process through crafted wpapsk_crypto input. The fromSetWirelessRepeat handler fails to reject an oversized wpapsk_crypto value before it reaches stack-backed storage, causing data to overwrite adjacent memory. No authentication or user interaction is required, and exploitation can alter process behavior or interrupt the router service.
