CVE-2022-43032Network attack vector

Denial of service via descriptor memory leak

Published Oct 19, 2022 · Updated May 8, 2025

Memory leak in Bento4 v1.6.0-639 allows remote attackers to cause service interruption via a crafted MP4 file processed by mp42aac. AP4_DescriptorFactory::CreateDescriptorFromStream in Core/Ap4DescriptorFactory.cpp fails to release allocated descriptor memory after its effective lifetime, so repeated parsing can exhaust process memory. Exploitation requires a victim to process the crafted media, and the documented consequence is availability loss without confidentiality or integrity impact.
