Authenticated database read and write via UPDATE injection
Published Oct 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2025
SQL injection in OpenCATS 0.9.6 allows remote authenticated users to read and alter database data via a crafted entriesPerPage value. The setPipelineEntriesPerPage function inserts the attacker-controlled value into an UPDATE statement without neutralizing SQL syntax, permitting arbitrary expressions and column assignments. A valid application session is required; exploitation can expose database values through reflected user fields or overwrite data in the user table.
