Database disclosure via unquoted tag identifier
Published Oct 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 15, 2025
SQL injection in OpenCATS 0.9.6 allows remote authenticated users to read application database data through the Tag update endpoint. The ajax_tags_upd action inserts the attacker-controlled tag_id value unquoted into an UPDATE statement, enabling time-based blind queries. A valid CATS session is required; the published proof of concept extracts the administrator password hash by measuring database-induced response delays.
