DOM XSS via unchecked cross-origin widget messages
Published Nov 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
DOM XSS in affected EqualWeb Accessibility Widget versions allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through cross-origin messages. The accessibility.js message listener accepts any origin, lets the payload select getBlock, and passes attacker-controlled optName HTML to a jQuery selector for evaluation. A victim must browse a malicious page while the widget is loaded; injected code runs in the widget-bearing site's origin, enabling session-data theft or actions as the user.
