Employee credential disclosure via unauthenticated backup requests
Published Dec 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Missing authentication in ZKTeco ZEM and ZMM firmware allows remote attackers to read employee credentials through the device web interface. The /form/DataApp handler serves device.dat or data.dat backup archives for unauthenticated GET requests based only on the style parameter. Network access is sufficient to retrieve PINs, card-token data, privilege levels, and fingerprint templates stored by the device.
