Unauthenticated remote code execution via nocookie startup window
Published Feb 6, 2023 · Updated Mar 26, 2025
Authentication bypass in Couchbase Server 6.5.x, 6.6.0 through 6.6.5, 7.0.0 through 7.0.4, and 7.1.0 through 7.1.1 allows attackers to execute code. The Cluster Manager sets its Erlang distribution security cookie to nocookie before cluster-management authentication starts, leaving the protocol without access controls. Attackers must connect during the brief node-startup window; a maintained connection permits code execution on any cluster node with Couchbase Server privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
