Unauthorized file edits via weakened permissions
Published Dec 20, 2022 · Updated Apr 17, 2025
Incorrect permission assignment in SilverStripe Subsites before 2.6.1 allows attackers to edit files beyond their rights. The subsites module weakens edit restrictions on some files, permitting a malicious user to modify files without the intended edit permission. The issue affects projects that install the module; subsite content separation is cosmetic and does not prevent cross-subsite access to protected files.
