Remote code execution via Swing object rendering
Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
HTML injection in Cobalt Strike 4.7.1 allows remote attackers to execute code in the operator UI through crafted Beacon data. Swing ObjectView instantiates the class named by an unescaped object tag and invokes setters such as JSVGCanvas.setURI, which loads attacker-controlled SVG and Java code. Exploitation requires a simulated or tampered Beacon to return malicious field data and an operator to open an affected graphical view, after which code runs on the operator's machine.
