Subscriber-level backup reset via missing authorization
Published Jan 17, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Missing authorization in ThemeinProgress WIP Custom Login 1.2.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to reset plugin backups. The wip_custom_login_backup_reset action omits both a capability check and nonce validation before invoking the backup-reset function. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and exploitation destroys the saved backup state without granting broader site control.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
