Spreadsheet code execution via unneutralized exported cells
Published Nov 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
CSV injection in Shambix Simple CSV/XLS Exporter 1.5.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to embed executable formulas in exports. The CSV export path writes stored WordPress content, including attacker-controlled category names, into spreadsheet cells without neutralizing formula-leading characters. Editor-level access is required to supply the content, and execution occurs only when a user downloads and opens the export in a vulnerable spreadsheet configuration.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
