Privacy preference bypass via missing hardened runtime
Published Dec 15, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025
Improper access control in AppleMobileFileIntegrity in Apple tvOS before 16.2 and watchOS before 9.2 allows local users to bypass Privacy preferences. Apple identifies missing hardened runtime protection but has not disclosed the failing code path or the Privacy preference check that accepts the app. Exploitation requires a locally running app and user interaction; the documented consequence is limited to bypassing Privacy preferences.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
