Camera video disclosure via stale extension access
Published Feb 27, 2023 · Updated Mar 11, 2025
Improper resource lifecycle handling in CoreMedia in Apple macOS before 13 allows local users to retain access to camera video. A camera extension continues receiving the video stream after the activating app closes because CoreMedia fails to revoke camera-data access at the end of the app session. The attacker must run a camera extension with app-granted camera access, and the documented consequence is continued video capture after that app exits.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
