CVE-2022-42823Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via JavaScriptCore Inspector type confusion

Published Nov 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Type confusion in WebKit on Apple tvOS before 16.1, macOS before 13, and watchOS before 9.1 allows remote attackers to execute code. JavaScriptCore's Inspector path passes an invalid globalObject pointer through InjectedScriptManager, causing memory corruption during crafted page processing. A target must open attacker-controlled HTML, and the published demonstration also opens Web Inspector; execution remains within the WebKit content-processing context.
