Authenticated command execution via unfiltered Freemarker templates
Published Dec 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Server-side template injection in Heyewei SpringBootCMS allows remote authenticated users to execute operating-system commands. The Template Management controller saves administrator-supplied Freemarker template content without filtering dangerous built-ins, then renders the selected template. Administrative backend access is required; successful exploitation runs commands with the CMS process's privileges and can expose or alter server data.
