Code execution via improper WKWebView certificate validation
Published Nov 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Improper certificate validation in CFNetwork on macOS, tvOS, and watchOS allows remote attackers to execute code through WKWebView. The WKWebView path in CFNetwork fails to validate a malicious certificate correctly before processing it; Apple has not disclosed the exact faulty check. Exploitation requires an affected WKWebView to process an attacker-controlled certificate, after which code runs in the context of the consuming process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
