CVE-2022-42805

Kernel code execution via integer overflow

Published Dec 15, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Integer overflow in Apple Neural Engine in Apple macOS before 12.5 allows local users to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Apple Neural Engine inadequately validates an application-supplied value before an integer calculation, allowing that calculation to overflow. Execution requires a local user to run a crafted app; Apple has not disclosed the affected calculation or input field.
