CVE-2022-42787Network attack vector

Account takeover via brute-forced session identifiers

Published Nov 10, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025

Insufficiently random session IDs in Wiesemann & Theis Com-Server firmware allow remote attackers to hijack active user accounts. The web interface allocates session identifiers from a small value space, allowing repeated guesses to locate a valid logged-in session. A legitimate user must first log in; successful guessing grants the attacker that user's account access on the appliance.
