Authenticated code execution via unvalidated photo upload
Published Dec 3, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in House Rental System allows remote authenticated users to execute server-side PHP through tenant registration. The tenant_register function in tenant-engine.php appends the original id_photo filename to tenant-photo/ and calls move_uploaded_file without validating its extension or content. A low-privileged session can store a PHP web shell under the web root and execute it through a subsequent request.
