CVE-2022-42716Public exploit

Local freed-memory access via shared region flag

Published Dec 12, 2022 · Updated Oct 15, 2024

Use-after-free in Arm Mali GPU Kernel Driver Valhall r29p0 through r40p0 allows local users to access freed GPU memory. The driver represents KBASE_REG_NO_USER_FREE as one bit even though multiple CSF tiler heaps can reference the same memory region, allowing one heap to clear the protection while another retains a reference. A non-privileged local user must submit improper GPU processing operations, after which stale GPU memory remains reachable beyond its intended lifetime.
