CVE-2022-42504

Local privilege escalation via call-number buffer overwrite

Published Dec 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 18, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in rild_exynos on Google Pixel devices with the Android kernel allows local users to gain elevated privileges. CallDialReqData::encodeCallNumber in callreqdata.cpp applies an incorrect bounds check and writes call-number data past its destination buffer. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges and no user interaction, placing the risk in already privileged local code paths.
