CVE-2022-42465

Privilege escalation via undisclosed kernel-driver access control

Published May 10, 2023 · Updated Jan 27, 2025

Improper access control in Intel One Boot Flash Update before 14.1.30 allows privileged local users to escalate privileges through its kernel driver. Intel identifies the vulnerable locus only as the kernel-mode driver and has not published the access-control operation that mishandles input. Exploitation requires high local privileges, high complexity, and user interaction, and successful exploitation crosses a security boundary with confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact.
