Application crash via crafted MID file
Published Dec 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Improper resource shutdown in Kakao PotPlayer allows context-dependent attackers to crash the application via a crafted MID file. The disclosure names the MID File Handler but states that the packed executable prevented identification of the exact operation that mishandles the file. A user must open the crafted file in PotPlayer, and the documented consequence is an application crash rather than code execution or data access.
