Administrator-level code execution via uploaded update script
Published Oct 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Command execution in Generex CS141 through 2.10 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to run code via firmware upload. The run_update function in /usr/bin/gxserve-update.sh extracts install.sh from the supplied tar archive and executes it as root. Administrative access to the web interface is required, and successful exploitation grants root command execution on the appliance.
