CVE-2022-42418

Code execution via unvalidated TIF pointer dereference

Published Jan 26, 2023 · Updated Mar 31, 2025

Untrusted pointer dereference in PDF-XChange Editor 9.4.363.0 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted TIF file. The TIF parser fails to validate a user-supplied value before dereferencing it as a pointer in the current process. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and successful exploitation runs code with the current process privileges.
