CVE-2022-42401

Information disclosure via PDF parser out-of-bounds read

Published Jan 26, 2023 · Updated Mar 31, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in PDF-XChange Editor 9.4.363.0 allows remote attackers to disclose process memory through a crafted PDF file. The PDF parser trusts crafted data when calculating a buffer read and accesses bytes beyond the allocated buffer boundary. Opening the file or visiting a malicious page is required; the disclosure can support code execution when chained with another flaw.
