Authenticated PHP object injection via unchecked file paths
Published Jan 2, 2023 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
PHP object injection in Welcart e-Commerce before 2.8.6 allows remote authenticated users to trigger PHAR deserialization via AJAX. Multiple AJAX actions pass unvalidated user-controlled paths to file_exists(), causing PHP to deserialize PHAR metadata for phar:// paths. Subscriber access is sufficient, but exploitation also requires file-upload ability and a suitable gadget chain; resulting actions depend on that chain.
