Guest-triggered service interruption via incorrect node accounting
Published Nov 1, 2022 · Updated May 6, 2025
Resource exhaustion in xenstored in Xen allows guest OS users to interrupt the service by forcing excessive memory allocation. C xenstored incorrectly accounts per-domain nodes, allowing transaction activity to evade intended node quotas and consume unbounded memory. An unprivileged guest can exhaust xenstored and prevent new guest creation or configuration changes to running guests.
