Local service crash via malformed registration packet
Published Oct 3, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
NULL-pointer dereference in Veritas NetBackup 8.2 and earlier allows local users to crash pbx_exchange with a crafted registration packet. During registration, pbx_exchange processes malformed packet data that triggers a NULL-pointer exception instead of rejecting the packet. Low-privileged local access is required, and the reported consequence is interruption of pbx_exchange rather than data access or modification.
