CVE-2022-42272Network attack vector

Remote code execution via IPMI buffer overflow

Published Jan 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 7, 2025

Buffer overflow in the IPMI handler in NVIDIA DGX A100 BMC firmware before 00.19.07 allows remote attackers to execute code. The handler copies attacker-controlled IPMI data into a buffer without adequately checking its length; NVIDIA has not disclosed the affected command or field. Reachability requires network access to the BMC; the vendor scores the attack as high complexity with no authentication, and successful exploitation can also crash the BMC or escalate privileges.
