CVE-2022-42268

Code execution via embedded USD Python

Published Jan 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2025

Code injection in affected NVIDIA Omniverse Kit reference applications allows remote attackers to run Python via a crafted USD file. The embedded-script extensions automatically execute Python stored in a USD scene when the application opens the file, without separating scene data from executable content. Exploitation requires a local user to open the attacker's file; the code runs with that user's privileges and can disclose or alter data or interrupt the application.
