Stored script execution via unescaped API key
Published Dec 2, 2022 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Prasunsen Chained Quiz 1.3.2.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through the Mailchimp API key. The Mailchimp integration stores the api_key setting and renders it into an HTML input attribute using sanitize_text_field rather than esc_attr. Administrator privileges are required; the payload executes when a user clicks or hovers over the affected field, allowing script execution in that user’s browser.
