Server resource exhaustion via layout prototype name
Published Nov 15, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
ReDoS in Liferay Portal 7.3.2 through 7.4.3.4 allows remote attackers to consume server resources via crafted layout prototype names. LayoutPageTemplateEntryUpgradeProcess processes the prototype name with inefficient regular-expression behavior, causing excessive computation when a crafted name is supplied. The attack is network reachable and requires no authenticated account or user interaction; successful requests can exhaust server resources and interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
