Arbitrary SQL execution via concatenated namespace
Published Nov 15, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
SQL injection in Liferay Portal 7.3.3 through 7.4.3.16 allows attackers to execute arbitrary SQL during Fragment upgrades. PortletPreferencesUpgradeProcess concatenates a stored namespace and numeric identifiers into its lookup query instead of binding them as parameters. Exploitation requires high privileges, user interaction, and the upgrade process; Liferay DXP 7.3 before update 4 and 7.4 before update 17 are also affected.
