Stored XSS via unescaped announcement type
Published Nov 14, 2022 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
Stored XSS in Liferay Portal 7.1.0 through 7.4.2 and Liferay DXP allows remote attackers to execute script in another user's browser. The Announcements administration view passes the localized entry type into a search-result column without HTML escaping, causing stored markup to be rendered. An attacker must store a crafted announcement or alert type and wait for another user to open the management page; DXP 7.1 before fix pack 27, 7.2 before fix pack 17, and 7.3 before service pack 3 are affected.
