Stored script execution via Raw HTML Page body
Published Nov 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 28, 2025
Stored XSS in Page content in Backdrop CMS 1.23.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in a viewer's browser. The Page creation form stores an event-handler payload entered in the Body field and renders it unfiltered when Raw HTML is selected. Exploitation requires administrator access, the restricted Raw HTML permission, and a viewer to open the saved Page; Backdrop considers that permission sufficient for site takeover and reports no added risk.
