CVE-2022-42060Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Router reboot via unchecked PPPoE password

Published Nov 15, 2022 · Updated May 13, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda W15Ev2 AC1200 firmware 15.11.0.10(1576) allows remote attackers to reboot the router via PPPoE input. The setNetwork path passes unchecked wanUser and wanPwd JSON values through setWanPppoe into getPPPoEConnectStatus, where sprintf writes the input into a fixed stack buffer. Reachability is limited to the local web interface unless hosted remote management is enabled; triggering forces a persistent reboot loop.
