CVE-2022-42042Network attack vector

Code execution via malicious dependency substitution

Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated May 19, 2025

Dependency confusion in d8s-networking 0.1.0 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code when the Python package is installed. The release declares democritus-hashes, a package name outside maintainer control, causing pip to resolve and install third-party code. Installation of version 0.1.0 is the gate, and the dependency executes with the installing process's privileges.
