Code execution via dependency confusion
Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated May 19, 2025
Code-execution backdoor in d8s-ip-addresses 0.1.0 allows attackers to execute malicious code through democritus-csv. The release declares democritus-csv as a dependency after that package name left the maintainer's control, causing pip to resolve third-party code. Installing the affected release is the required gate, and the dependency's code runs with the Python installation process's privileges.
