Denial of service via recursive array unwrapping
Published Oct 2, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Resource exhaustion in FasterXML jackson-databind 2.4.0-rc1 through 2.12.7 and 2.13.0 through 2.13.4.1 allows attackers to interrupt service. StdDeserializer primitive parsers recursively unwrap nested arrays without rejecting a second START_ARRAY token, allowing crafted JSON to consume stack resources. Exploitation requires untrusted JSON to reach an affected primitive deserializer while UNWRAP_SINGLE_VALUE_ARRAYS is enabled; the resulting exhaustion interrupts the consuming application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
