Stored script execution via unescaped share image setting
Published Jan 2, 2023 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
Stored XSS in WP Social Sharing 2.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script via the Default share image setting. The setting accepts an event-handler payload without sanitizing it or escaping it before the administrative page renders the saved value. Administrator access is required, and a later page load triggers script execution in the viewer's browser even when unfiltered_html is disabled.
