Heap information disclosure via fixed-length TIFF string
Published Dec 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 14, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in OpenImageIO 2.3.19.0 allows attackers to disclose heap data via a crafted TIFF string field. TIFFInput::tiff_get_string_field uses libtiff's fixed read count when constructing a string_view, even when the file supplied fewer bytes. Processing the file is required, and the resulting read can expose adjacent process memory as an information-leak primitive.
